October Haiku
by Jeannie E. Roberts

Hot apple cider
cooler air and shorter days
crisp sips of autumn

*

Pick-your-own pumpkin
cozy neighboring porchlights
the glow of orange

*

Heaps of leaf color
the energy of yellow
Are you ready? Jump!

*

Drives through the country
the crown jewels evoke wows
maple leaves glisten

*

Long underwear nights
the log cabin stack warms us
beside the campfire

*

Flames of desire
toasted to gooey goodness
we lick each finger
