For As Long As the Rivers Flow
by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

For as long as the rivers flow
the red man shall be free
for as long as the grasses grow.

For as long as the north winds blow
and the flower blooms on the tree
for as long as the rivers flow.

For as long as the herds of buffalo
roam the plains and the vast prairie
for as long as the grasses grow.

For as long as the stars shall glow
and the waters rush down to the sea
for as long as the rivers flow.

unhampered shall the red man go
like an eagle on the breeze
For as long as the grasses grow.

For as long as he hunts with bow
and his arrow brings the doe to her knees
for as long as the grasses grow
for as long as the rivers flow.
