Now That Summer's Gone
by Sharmagne Leland-St John
Now that summer's gone,
I look for signs of autumn.
The year passed by so quickly
It's sometimes hard to fathom.
There's a crispness in the air
Now that summer's gone,
I bundle up, become aware,
rest in the front porch rocking chair
The leaves turn gold and crimson
they flutter to the ground
Now that summer's gone,
a new serenity has been found.
I await the chill of winter
evenings by the fire
a mottled sunrise every dawn,
Now that summer's gone.
