Sunset, Seaside
by Vaughn Neeld

The last day of summer
fades in the west above the green
unending
swells of waves
gently nudging detritus on the beach.

Alone on the shore, I stand lost
within the glory of evening splendor
and sing a serenade, a farewell,
to the sand, the sea, the sun.
