When September Awakens
by Jeannie E. Roberts
speckles of yellow will revise green
cluster as if constellations
turn the woodlands
into altars of amber
vestments of gold.
Trees will shine beneath the heavens
hum the narrative of the season
where crimson will define the sky
and coral will sing the story of change.
While we await the promise of autumn
the sage umbrella of summer
will continue to call
share its voice
exalt the air.
Do you hear the song sparrow?
His notes kiss the floral breeze.
