"A Michigan Lighthouse on a Montauk Shore” ~ Painting by Sharmagne Leland-St. John
The Gentle Beach
by Lenora Rain-Lee Good
No breakers pound this shore
soft gentle waves, stretch for
sandpipers and gulls, pushed
by the dawn to cover more sand
pulled by the moon to rise, to rise.
Perfume of salt air, and early fog
as it melts, bacon frying drifts
from the lighthouse kitchen,
a perfect summer morning to greet
Mother Sea, Mother Earth, Father Sky
with a song of blessing, a song of praise,
a meditation of life.
