Loneliness Revisited

I feel
an affinity with the lighthouse
alone
but stalwart and tall
vigilant
beneath
a painted sky
with its serene
pink, yellow, and aqua dyes
the sea’s blue hues
its waves
kissing the sand
sigh
as a lover might.
I have no argument
with life
we strive
we sweat
we achieve
I get that–
but oh, how I appreciate
that beacon
on the shore
reaching for my heart–
Stay with me awhile
lay your burdens down.
I will give you rest.
