The Loudness of Autumn
by Wilda Morris

On the lake,
waves slap and crash.

Dark silhouettes honk
across the sky.

Dry leaves give away deer
slipping through the trees.

Autumn trumpets gold,
screams scarlet.

Wind tears trees,
rattles windows.

Something in me cries out
for new adventures.
