Peaceful, Flowered, Meadows
by Lenora Rain-Lee Good
The meadows are quiet today
all the activity has ceased,
the visitors gone, the bees,
the deer gone elsewhere,
I assume the fox and her kits,
pray the birds flew as scouts
for them all. I look at
the meadows, peaceful,
and count my blessings to live
in such a place, even now,
when wildflower dotted meadows
exist only in memories and hope as I
watch the ash dance with the breeze
and pray no embers hide to reawake.
