The Point

The arch of the ochre-brown beach at low tide
sweeps to the northeast. The blue of the receding
ocean hugs the shore’s sandy curve like the shadow
cast on a crescent-shaped simitar moon.
A rose-pink cloud lazily drifts
toward the close of another day.
On its spit of sea-surrounded headland
a lonely lighthouse awakens to prepare
for the coming night to once again
cast its warning light flashing
across the rising tide–the now quiet
scene soon swept by slashing light.
