"A Michigan Lighthouse on a Montauk Shore” ~ Painting by Sharmagne Leland-St. John

Salt Water Soiree
by Elayne Clift

I am blessed to be there,
On this magical day,
Unlike any other.
I have walked this beach before,
But today is different.
I can feel the sand between my toes,
As I inhale the salt-scented air,
And feel the breeze cool my face,
And ruffle my hair.
I stand mesmerized
By gentle waves as they
Touch the white crescent beach
Leading to the regal lighthouse,
Standing as always on a quiet promontory,
Still as a sentry at attention,
Beneath a pastel sky,
All of it captured
In calm azure waters,
Like a painting,
Gifted from the gods.
