A Sigh of Relief
by Howard Osborne

At least now, on this time around
The fields whisper a sigh of relief
All with a gentle sigh, never loud
The respite, from being ploughed
For a few seasons, however brief
And only the bees make a sound

It will be such a quiet restful year
All plants left to grow and thrive
Floral spots, on a carpet of green
And just how it wants to be seen
There’s that feeling of being alive
Nature returning, it would appear

Freed, the fields will not complain
Left all alone merely to grow wild
Their tiny petals, in different hues
It’s a place to wander, as I choose
Just like where I played as a child
Wildflower dotted meadows
reign
